Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) January 31, 2012
It is no secret that the world of online commerce can be cutthroat, but a recent New York Times report revealed just how ruthless some companies can be. According to the report, many businesses have been paying for falsified product reviews, boosting their standings even on trusted sites such as Amazon.com. In fact, the Times report suggests that some companies have been caught offering refunds to customers in exchange for glowing reviews. Federal regulators are beginning to crack down on this practice, leaving businesses to come up with new ways to promote their products. A company called Logix9 is offering small businesses a chance to do exactly that. In response to the New York Times piece, Logix9 has issued a statement decrying these dishonest promotional methods, but pledging to help small businesses market themselves in more effective and efficient ways.
Logix9, an educational company devoted to helping small business owners learn the fundamentals of online marketing, says in statement that the methods cited in the Times report are not just dishonest, but ineffective. We view other companies practices of paying for good reviews as highly unethical, says a company spokesperson. In the end, this not only hurts honest companies offering reputable products but is also a huge disservice to the general public.
Rather than pay for reviews, business owners can promote their businesses through savvy and effective online marketing campaigns, the Logix9 spokesperson continues. The company provides training services in social marketing, business blogging, pay-per-click marketing, and more.
Additionally, Logix9 provides business owners with training in the basics of Web design and HTML, but the focus is always on marketing and promotion. The company is aimed squarely at the owners of small and medium-sized businesses, including home-based businesses. The objective, says the Logix9 spokesperson, is to empower business owners to propel their sales and maximize their exposure, honestly and effectively.
Implementing these non-falsified marketing strategies will likely prove beneficial to companies in more ways than one, as the Times reports that not only is regulation cracking down, but new technology is making it easier to spot fake reviews on sites like Amazon.

Solomon & Relihan Offers Tips on Choosing a Phoenix Nursing Home
Phoenix, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB) February 14, 2011
Choosing a nursing home
for a parent, grandparent, or other loved one is a difficult decision. Knowing what to look out for can aid greatly in the process and help assure that your loved one receives top-quality care. The law firm Solomon & Relihan, which has been working with nursing home residents for decades, provides tips on choosing a good nursing home.
The internet can provide a wealth of information about nursing homes, but visiting the nursing home is critical to making a decision of whether to trust the facility with a loved one’s care.
When first visiting the nursing home, there are specific things that a prospective resident’s family should check to make sure that the home is the right one for them:
Smell: Does the nursing home smell all right, indicating cleanliness and proper ventilation, or does it smell like urine and feces? Bad smells can be signs that the residents are not cared for properly, and they can even be signs of neglect.
The call light: Does the call light work? If the call light successfully alerts the nursing home staff to a problem, how long does it take them to respond? Nursing home neglect starts when staff is too overwhelmed to manage your loved one’s care effectively.
The ratio of staff to residents: When visiting the facility, the ratio of staff to patients should be posted. If it can’t be found, the prospective resident’s family should ask for a copy of their latest ratio.
Visiting families: Sunday is a good day to visit a nursing home because so many families visit. Prospective residents and their families should talk to these families and ask them what their experience has been with the facility.
Why Arizona Nursing Home “Quality Ratings” Can Be Misleading
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) gives nursing homes in Phoenix and throughout Arizona a “quality rating” based on information collected in an annual license renewal inspection. Many people rely on these quality ratings in choosing a nursing home. However, they often can be misleading.
Based almost entirely on whatever deficiencies the ADHS employees observe at the time of the annual inspection, the “quality rating” often fails to take into account problems found during previous complaint investigation surveys. The “quality rating” also does not score the facility’s compliance with many state and federal regulations. This means that nursing homes can receive a high quality rating even though significant, dangerous problems exist at the facility.

Sterling Custom Homes Offers Lot Analysis for Custom Homes
Austin, TX (Vocus) February 26, 2010
Sterling Custom Homes closely works with the client from the very first step in the custom home building process up through the finished product. The first step in building a custom home is choosing the perfect homesite, and the Austin custom home builder offers a detailed lot analysis so that all clients can make an informed decision when choosing the site.
Prior to choosing a home site, a buyer should have a lot analysis performed since there is an art and science to lot selection. Sterling Custom Homes physically visits the homesite with the client and addresses the features and characteristics of the lot.
Consideration is given for costs associated with tree clearing, sun orientation, topography, views and outdoor living environments. In addition to the characteristics of the homesite, Sterling helps the client understand the layout of the custom home relating to all of the unique aspects of the lot.
More importantly, the client receives a cost analysis comparing the tangible and intangible lot costs. Tangible costs include purchase price, utilities including well, septic, wastewater and permit fees, area property taxes, topography, site work and clearing based on lot grade. Other direct costs include architectural requirements, such as type of windows (wood vs. vinyl), roofing (tile vs. traditional) and exterior finish. The intangible lot costs include the view, location, schools, community, amenities and lifestyle. By analyzing all costs associated with a lot, Sterling is able to create a realistic estimate of the building expenses for the specific lot.
Quite often a lot that appears less expensive can be significantly more due to septic requirements or additional slab costs caused by topography or view considerations. By getting a detailed lot analysis like the one Sterling Custom Homes offer, home shoppers can save several thousand dollars as well as find the perfect site suited to their custom home design and lifestyle needs.
Sterling Custom Homes builds quality custom homes in many of Austin’s premier custom home communities, private gated communities, and resort golf communities. From Lakeway, all up and down Lake Travis, and into Westlake, Sterling is known as one of Austin’s premier custom home builders, with a reputation for exceptional quality, integrity and service.
